Proper crop establishment is absolutely essential for the success of SRI cultivation. The first step to achieve a good crop establishment is a good seed. Seed preparation is crucial and also hold promise to enhance the yield potential of the rice plant. Farmer often relies on chemical seed treatment which is easier and less time consuming despite becoming a major problem to health and environment. Heavy reliance on chemical pesticides also induce outbreaks and resistance of the pest. Thus, an alternative method for seed treatment will be demonstrate during the workshop to promote the sustainable way of farming.
